Joy is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BC), a Registered Social Worker (BC, Alberta & Ont), Registered Psychotherapist (Ont), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor for the BCACC and CRPO. She has her Master's degree in Psychology, with extensive postgraduate training, which means she has the qualifications and expertise to provide professional, helpful, and accountable psychotherapy and supervision services.
Joy has 20 years of experience working collaboratively with youth, couples, and adults to help them address the troublesome memories and experiences from the past, the struggles and difficulties of today, and the anxieties and fears about the future.
She works with clients experiencing a wide range of clinical concerns and life struggles including anxiety, panic, trauma and traumatic stress injuries, borderline personality disorder symptoms, survivors of parental alienation, ADHD, relationship conflict / abuse / issues, caregiver stress and burnout, workplace stress and occupational mental health, grief/loss, family conflict, chronic illness (including diabetes), chronic pain, and more.
Joy also provides speaking engagements and professional education on topics including stress, resilience, burnout, and occupational mental health. Her work includes a specialized focus on supporting aviation professionals and on educating therapists and counsellors to competently understand and respond to the unique psychological demands of aviation roles.
She offers clinical supervision and consultation services to therapists at all career stages, including graduate interns, new post-graduate clinicians, seasoned therapists, and clinical supervisors. She is an approved clinical supervisor for the BCACC, a 'supervisor of supervisors', and meets CRPO supervision requirements. She provides external clinical supervision for graduate practicum students from a variety of training programs, including Yorkville University and City University.
