The Midlife Passage: Learning to Accept and Embrace Change

A six-week therapeutic group for women and non-binary folks
in their midlife years.

Are you experiencing midlife changes and finding that you are resisting them?

Imagine having the tools and strategies that may help you navigate this transitional time of life with more ease and grace.

Imagine challenging your self-limiting beliefs and less-than-helpful stories about being in midlife and writing an affirming and empowering story instead.

The midlife years in a person’s life are a time of significant change, not only physically but also psychologically, emotionally and, perhaps, also spiritually. In a culture that has historically valued the young fertile woman, it can be difficult for some to experience the changes of perimenopause and menopause, and with it, possibly the loss of an identity and a way of being and being seen. This therapeutic series is designed to provide support, education, inspiration, new perspectives and also an opportunity to process and share personal experiences about this stage of life.

It will provide you with a safer space to share, feel, imagine and be in your body while also cultivating self-acceptance, self-compassion and mindfulness to support the process of change.

What will be covered over our time together?

  • Examination of common cultural narratives around midlife, menopause and perimenopause and how they may be affecting your self-image, self-esteem and limiting beliefs
  • Consideration of the many demands and changes at this time of life and what they may mean to you
  • Reflections on letting go, loss, and allowing for grief
  • Exploration of values, needs, desires and boundaries
  • Exploration of how to balance the many responsibilities that often accompany these years in a way that also allows space for you
  • Reflection on your meaning and purpose and how they may be changing for you
  • Writing your personal story about who you are becoming while also acknowledging and honouring the gifts, wisdom and life experience that you bring.
  • Cultivation of acceptance, allowing and self-compassion through mindfulness, breathwork and somatic practices

Who is this for?

Women and non-binary folks between the ages of 40 – 60 who are comfortable in a female oriented space.

What will be required of me?

This will be an inclusive and trauma-informed space. Please be open to sharing it with people having different experiences, orientations and expressions.

If possible, taking 1 – 2 hours for self-care and reflection each week in addition to the weekly class will greatly support and enhance your therapeutic process and growth.
